Schokman & Samerawickreme Concludes a Massive Two Day Auction for Hilton Colombo

It was indeed a great weekend for hunters of “all good things” who had a field day at the Mihilaka Medura at the BMICH on 7^th and 8^th August 2021. They bidded against each other for the contents of 69 rooms and 6 suites of the Colombo Hilton.

Many were the items that went under the mallet of the Auctioneer that weekend, but the notable was a bedside cupboard, made in Japan, which was one of the original pieces of furniture brought down at the inception of the hotel. This fetched an impressive price.

It is noteworthy that such a massive Auction, the proceeded of which surpassed the expectations of the Management of the Colombo Hilton, could have been organized and held during a pandemic.
